Dates of Project: December 2010 to June 2012
Some 50 percent of the nation’s public health workforce uses TRAIN, an online system that offers in excess of 29,000 courses. TRAIN’s database of learners could advance public health systems and services research by shedding light on the capacity of the workforce. However, investigators have not widely used TRAIN.
Description: The Public Health Foundation (PHF) took steps to make TRAIN more useful and accessible to public health researchers, employees, and administrators.
To learn about the effectiveness of the changes it made to TRAIN, the Public Health Foundation contracted with the National Coordinating Center for Public Health Systems and Services Research, based at the College of Public Health at the University of Kentucky, to conduct an external assessment of TRAIN.
